house Z | zygi | 2014
House Z embodies the idea of a simple house for the designer where noise and sleepless nights are beautiful when it comes to creativity. On the ground floor the house has the workshop space with all the tools necessary to design, project and build prototypes.
Moving on to the first floor by the minimalistic yet iconic red steel stairs almost floating in mid-air you find the living room with concrete designed furniture that give a static feeling to the design.
On the top floor one can sleep with the skylight roof looking at the stars. A touch of romanticism, minimalism and the need to have only the essentials. The house is cut diagonally to the left for the afternoon sun to join in since the morning sun in Cyprus is too strong to begin work with.
The skylight illuminates the space from the roof to the workshop area at all times during the day with a choice to close the shutters.
